About Racquet Strings

Strings are categorised by material and structure. The different structure and compositions will determine the characteristics of the string for example how much power, control, feel the string will produce and how durable it will be.

Strings can be made from 4 different materials, nylon,Polyester or Kevlar

Nylon - Nylon is the makeup of almost all the synthetic guts. Nylon strings will provide a more softer and more responsive feeling compared to the polyester and kevlar strings.

Polyester Strings - Polyester strings are very durable but tend to be a lot stiffer than than nylon  and natural gut strings. The stiffness and resistance to notiching makes them an ideal choice for players who hit heavy toppin

Kevlar - Kevlar / aramid strings are the ultimate strings for string breakers. Kevlar is highly resistant to notiching and can endure many hours of play. The downside of Kevlar is that it does not have much elasticity to it , so its harder to generate power and get much feel on the ball. We advise using this string in a hybrid setup and stringing your racquet 15% less than what you would traditionally.

As well of being made of different materials strings are also made to different characteristics. For example some strings are just one solid length on nylon / polyester whereas some have protective wraps to improve durability and playability

  • Nylon Core with single wrap
  • Nylon Core Multi wraps
  • Multifilament
  • Multifilament with Wraps
 Nylon Core with single Wrap

These Strings are made up of one solid strand of nylon surrounded by smaller wraps to provide more comfort and durability.

Nylon Core with Multiple Wraps
These strings are made up of a solid nylon core with multiple layers of wraps on. These extra wraps will make the string feel more comfortable and give a better performance compared to the single wrap strings.
Multifilaments

Multifilament strings are made up of many fibres that have been twisted together to make the string more elastic and softer. The Multifilament strings are trying to copy the playability and characteristics of Natural Gut.

Multifilament with Wraps

The Strings which are multifilaments have extra protective wraps around the core string to protect the string from notching and breaking .

Monofilaments

Monofilament strings are made up of a single core without any protective wraps.
